The Ever Evolving Kodak

Kodak is without a doubt one of the most resilient companies of the modern age, as it has continued to evolve and specialize in all products related to cameras, film, and images.  Kodak can trace its humble beginnings back to a standard film camera that was originally named the “Kodak”.  When the camera achieved some amount of success, the company that created the “Kodak” camera formalized its camera brand, naming all cameras that came afterward Kodak cameras.  Kodak has shown remarkable resilience over the years.  While various other companies developed their product line over time, Kodak is always on the cutting edge of technology, and today specializes in a plethora of camera and image products.  You will find Kodak cameras, Kodak printers, Kodak digital photo frames, and Kodak film.

Kodak is likely the most well recognized camera brand in America, and one of the few trusted developers of electronics that isn’t located overseas in Japan or Asia.

LCD and PDP Technology

Near the beginning of the 20th century, two new types of display monitors began to receive mainstream acclaim, LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and PDP (Plasma Display Technology) commonly referred to as just ‘Plasma’.  These two technologies provide a high definition image on the monitor (whether it be a television, computer, or small device), but do so through different means.  Plasma technology involves an inert mixture of noble gases held between two glass panels, through a complex process involving the gases being turned into plasma the monitor emits light and can display an image.  LCD technology involves tiny pixels arrayed in front of a light source, that then light up at various intensities to create the image.

In general, LCD technology produces a higher quality image, but LCD monitors are also much more expensive.  LCD technology is also much more common in small devices than Plasma technology.  You might find an LCD digital picture frame, an LCD alarm clock, or a GPS device with an LCD display, while Plasma tends to be more restricted to televisions and computer monitors.
